I get a lot of pressure to reduce cost by purchasing lower cost Mig gun parts. I’ve always purchased from the gun supplier (Bernard, Benzel, Trigasskiss…). I was told (buy a purchaser) that companies like ATT and Zap often supply the OEM with their contact tips. Of course, the sales hype I receive from both sides is deafening. I just want to cut through the BS.
Questions…
1. Is it probable that the OEM and the After Market suppliers receive contact tips from the same source?
2. What are the characteristics of a low-cost tip compared to a OEM?
3. A side from just throwing them out there on the floor, what is a good test for evaluating the quality of a contact tip?Thanks for your help… good luck with my spelling.
