I have many questions, but I’ll start at the beginning. I don’t know anything about welding. I bought $50 of text books from the Lincoln Foundation…very interesting, but not much about MIG welding.
I’ve been told that I should pursue MIG welding. I won’t be doing this for money… just for fun… I want to build some playground equipment for my kids, some shelving, some automotive, maybe the skeleton of a new shop.
The Lincoln Power Mig 200 is about $1,200. Where do I go for more info… real basic info. My local college has courses during the day… but I work full time Monday to Friday 8 to 5… so I cannot go to the college.
The local Lincoln/ Miller salesman are quite nice, but I’m not going to hang out at their shop and have them teach me. I don’t plan to weld anything critical until I have gained some experience. But experience is hard to come by when I don’t have a welder, and I have no experience. Any suggestions for
(1) education;
(2) products for a first-timer.
p.s. I’ve read everything on the site; thanks a lot. Very good info. But kind of over my head and out of my league! Thanks for you time and attention.
