aluminum Tig vs. Mig

Message:
Why is it that you can weld aluminum w/DC current w/Mig, however when using the Tig proccess you need the AC/DC ? Never really understood the 'why' I've read about the superior cleaning effect w/the alternating current but I never understood why you could weld the aluminum w/dc for one process yet ac w/ the other. thanks
